LG Electronics, a global leader in consumer electronics, has officially commissioned a solar-powered borehole in the Abule Osun community in Lagos, Nigeria. The initiative, tagged "LG Community Project" is part of the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes aimed at supporting local communities and addressing their pressing needs. The solar-powered borehole has a depth of 120 metres and a daily pumping capacity of approximately 40 cubic metres, and is equipped with a 3000-litre tank which is powered by renewable energy. This system ensures a reliable and clean water supply to the community, available 24 hours a day, addressing the long-standing issue of water scarcity in the area thereby improving the overall quality of life for the residents. The commissioning marks the second CSR activity by the company in Nigeria, demonstrating its commitment in giving back to the communities where it operates. The company plans to expand its CSR initiatives to other major cities across the country's geopolitical zones and make a positive impact on the lives of many more Nigerians.
